Life History

Rev. Glenn M. Pav

Biography: A Reasonably Full Account of My Life

I was born in the Berwyn, Illinois hospital on March 9, 1948 to Czechoslovak parents. My older brother and I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. We had the benefit of living in the same house for our entire growing up years until college.

My mother was a Roman Catholic and took me to Catechism through age 12. We attended church until I went away to college. My dad was an atheist but permitted Mom to raise us Catholic. Even though religion was not dominant in our growing up years, yet it was this religious foundation that kept me God-conscious in my college years. Growing up in the Midwest included activities such as Boy Scouts, Explorers Scouts, and sports activities of basketball, baseball, and tennis. I began playing the accordion and singing in the school choir while in grammar school and continued through high school. That interest in music propelled me to enjoy choir, ensembles, and musicals and thespians. My senior year included the honor of being in the Illinois All-State Choir which performed a concert at the International Interlaken Music Camp in Michigan.

Upon high school graduation, I enrolled at Purdue University in Indiana. I travelled with the Purdue Glee Club and Folk Trio and sang professionally to earn some college spending money. During my third year there, I attended a Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) Student Meeting. Several staff witnessed to me about the plan of salvation which I had never heard before. But I was searching for a more real relationship with God as well as a future career direction. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Personal Savior after having been introduced to the gospel through the Four Spiritual Laws. It didn’t take me long to become active as the guitar-playing song leader for CCC at school. I began writing Christian songs instead of secular songs and used them in the meetings.

Upon graduation with a B.S. degree in Industrial Management, I became a Marketing Specialist for Amphenol Connector Division, marketing electrical equipment for the SST (Super Sonic Transport Plane). Through a down-sizing a year later, most of the marketing department was laid off. I then became Office Manager of Open Air Campaigners (OAC), a national evangelistic para-church ministry. By the end of 1 ½ years, OAC became debt free (original $10,000 deficit) and I surrendered my life to pursue full-time Christian service after academic preparation.

A family in my home church paid my way to Moody Bible Institute (MBI) and the church brought me on as Assistant to the Pastor during my 3 years of Bible School. Intensive academics at MBI and on-the-job ministerial training through serving at my local church ended with a B.A. in Pastoral Studies with a Greek emphasis and also a Diploma in Bible Theology. The family also paid my way to the Holy Land during my MBI days. What a rich receiving and giving time of my life. It was highlighted by meeting, dating, and eventually marrying my wife, Melanie.

After graduation from MBI, I was ordained at my home church, got married, and became a Missionary Pastor in a rural upstart church west of Chicago. As we ministered there, Melanie, a graduate of MBI in performance voice/piano, finished her Bachelor of Music degree from Wheaton Conservatory of Music. Then God called us to Michigan to a unique ministry combination. I became a Ministry of Music and Christian Radio Announcer on the church-owned WMPC radio station. During our 3 years there, I began my study toward a Master of Theology through Trinity Theological Seminary. That was complete in 1981 while I was a Headmaster of a Christian School (K-12) in Minnesota. After 2 years there, I had a burden to start a Bible College for adults through a church. This led us to move back to Illinois to prepare the groundwork. It wasn’t long before the Lord called me to be Senior Pastor of a nearby church. It was there 3 sons were born and raised for 6 years. During that time, my pulpit ministry included preaching through the Bible 3 times: Bible Book Studies, Major Bible Themes, and Major Bible Characters. The first 3 years included building relationships; the last 3 years included Christian growth and ministry expansion. Several years after I left that church, they finished paying off the massive debt. It was an inheritance gift from one of the shut-ins I ministered to for 6 years that put us over the top. Praise the Lord!

The Lord called me back to minister with my Alma Mater, Moody Bible Institute. We moved to Ohio where I became a Stewardship Representative and Estate Planner. My territory included central and western Ohio. After 2 years, I was promoted to become Director of Moody Keswick Bible Conference in Florida. By then we just had our 4th son.

Melanie and I have homeschooled all 4 sons for 25 years and completed that great experience several years ago. We thank God we have prepared them well to move into the careers of their choice.

From the mid-1990’s to February 2009, I had the privilege of working for a Christian-owned manufacturer in Clearwater. It was there I was a corporate accountant for 3 years and developed and built up the I.T. department for 11 years. Afterward, I became a part-time business chaplain with Marketplace Chaplains, USA. I have continued ministering to people in the business world. I became the Chief Audit Executive (Internal Auditor) for Payless Car Rental for two years before retiring December 2013. Also, Melanie and I became certified presenters for the National Center for Biblical Parenting. We hold Biblical parenting conferences in churches, civic groups, and homeschool conventions in the Southeastern USA.

Now that we are empty-nesters, we can share a little of what God taught us through the child-rearing years. Currently I am a Christian Broadcaster, Producer, and Talk Show Host of the “Glenn Pav Show-Righting the Right” heard over 3 Tampa Bay stations: AM 1340 WTAN Clearwater, AM 1340 WDCF Dade City, and AM 1400 Zephyrhills. Please learn more at www.RightingTheRight.com.

From age 21 through the present, the local church ministry has been paramount. Appreciating our military, I have volunteered at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg. My spiritual gift is exhortation and encouragement and will continue helping, encouraging, and serving folks whether in Radio, Church, Business Chaplaincy, or Internet Blogging.

I thank my precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for shining His light upon me and my family. As the little chorus goes, ‘God is so good!’
